Clan Baird in Australia is led by David and Patricia Benfell of South Australia.  They are the Clan Baird Society Worldwide Commissioners for Australia.  Yes, that is rather a large region.

David and Patricia have begun Clan Baird Society of Australia and could use the help of any other Bairds who live in that large and beautiful country.

Another Australian Baird descended from Arthur Campbell Baird, New Cumnock, Ayrshire who arrived in 1837 to Sydney, New South Wales. Nea MacCulloch is very active in the Scottish Australian Heritage Council and is Deputy President of that organisation.

Many Bairds emigrated to Australia during the Highland Clearances of the 17th and 18th centuries and during the 19th and 20th centuries due to lack of opportunity in Scotland.
